Kate & Jol Temple - Term 1 NAPLAN sessions
Kate and Jol have created a practical talk to give kids real tips that break down story into simple steps and provide the tools for getting the pen moving. This talk looks at narrative structure, creating a hook, rising tensions and sticking the landing, and is designed to make narrative writing feel accessible and fun for all kids in the lead up to Naplan. Fantastic professional advice Lots of very relevant information Great learning event Knowledgeable and authentic presenter Very informative and information useful. Presenter did a super job with delivery information. Realistic and very comprehensive but at the same time quite encouraging. Duncan is such a great presenter - he shares his knowledge & experience without seeming pretentious despite the fact that he is quite successful. The presenter was funny, informative and entertaining. He [...]
Interesting, engaging, interactive, easy for the children to understand. The kids loved it!
Thank you so much for visiting Nudgee College yesterday and speaking with our Writers’ Circle boys. I hope you enjoyed it as much as we did. The boys – particularly the Years 5-7s – absolutely raved about your presentation. Thank you again.
Sandie was very prompt in her communications. She quickly organised for speakers when contacted and ensured contact between the author and school were made. It allowed the author visits to run very smoothly.
Thank you for the day you spent at Chisholm. The kids all enjoyed their time with you and found your stories interesting and engaging. The feedback from teachers has also been very positive, especially in relation to your ability to relate to the students. The English HOD was interested in getting you back in the future!
"Gaye Chapman brings a different dimension to the illustrator session. Her multi-sensory games give the children a chance to fully participate in activities leading them to draw without constraints. Children of all ages enjoy her approach, particularly being so hands-on and using the senses of sight, sound, touch and taste to inspire them to draw. Her sessions with senior art students were highly appreciated with the students responding to her creative methods. They particularly enjoyed being ab [...]
We were really pleased with Kate Hunter’s presentations. She met the needs of our Year 8s and Year 11s very well. The students enjoyed her presentations, and really appreciated her real world experience in advertising, journalism and media. We would be very happy to engage Kate again next year.
Children who live in far flung regional areas are often deprived of opportunities their city cousins take for granted. These kids devour the opportunity to listen, learn and engage with the writers of the books they read but never dream they may have the chance to meet personally. Allison Tait is one author who makes the dream a reality. As a founding member and organiser of BRW Festival my job is made super easy when you have an Allison Tait on your guest list.
Jenni selects her stories to match our needs and curriculum requests. She is an excellent storyteller, keeping the students engaged and involved. The sessions seem to whizz by. We would book Jenni again and recommend her to other schools without hesitation. For an authentic storyteller experience, Jenni is great. Adding her recorded works to our library collection also helps to extend the experience.
Peter's workshop was, without a doubt, the highlight of our library year! We already have plans to invite Peter back for a follow-up workshop in the near future. I also wanted to thank you for making Peter available to schools through Speakers Ink.
I just wanted to send you a personal thank you for a very entertaining afternoon. You captured the attention of S1’s for an hour and that is some feat!
