What people are saying
I was very happy with Deborah Abela and James Roy’s presentations. They related well to all the students from the young grade sixers through to the senior year twelves. Students found them humorous and very engaging. I would definitely recommend them to any school.
Epic. AJ Betts was incredible, she was able to build a relationship with our Year 7s and engage them in her talk about being an author and creative writing. Her talk was fresh, funny, and, charming. It even included some rap. Amanda herself fit into the library team immediately and we feel we have made a friend.
It’s hard to find performers who are as cleanly responsive and fearless as Kristian. Agile in body, mind and spirit, Kristian is the type of performer we need to see more.
We thoroughly enjoyed our workshop with Susy. She was very professional and great with the children. We had 2 classes of grade 1 children and their artwork all turned out amazing! She was really good at going step by step and teaching new art techniques. I would definitely book her again and I have told other teachers at the school how great she is!
Samantha Smith was the first author to visit Molesworth Street Kindergarten, just as we had finished setting up our new worm farm. Around that time, we discovered her delightful book Harriet's Hungry Worms. We began reading it regularly to the children, helping them learn about worms and how feeding them can recycle organic waste. Sam’s visit was truly special—she was so accommodating, and her natural connection with the children shined throughout. We were amazed at how she included visuals, sin [...]
Angela was engaging and gave the students a range of strategies to develop their confidence when performing poetry. The delivery of an original piece was definitely the highlight of the workshop as students could really identify the techniques she had used.
Just quickly checking in to say thank you SO much for taking the time and effort to connect with us on Wednesday. The students loved it! You have a great way of speaking to children at their level, so I hope they’ll always have the benefit of being part of your life’s work.
Kate's workshop was one of the best I've seen. She is so engaging and young people relate to her very well. She gives practical tips on improving writing and gives students many opportunities to practice their skills. She's a great writer and an excellent presenter.
Thanks - easy to work with, and great suggestions of speakers that might suit us.
David has a great ability to connect with students and keep them motivated. His use of music to inspire writing is so good and the students loved it! Some classes that had a large number of reluctant writers ALL came out with a story at the end of his workshop. That is amazing!
Zillmere Library had a good turnout for the Katherine Howell event. Katherine spoke really well and the audience really enjoyed the presentation. They had lots of questions for Katherine which she willingly answered, and she was happy to stay a little while after the talk to mingle with anyone who wanted to chat with her. Overall it was a great event, and we would definitely recommend Katherine Howell for future author talks.
