What people are saying
Gabrielle has visited our school for the past three years and run her Chinese watercolour painting session with our year 7s. This complements the text that they study at this year level, Chinese Cinderella. Gabrielle is a true professional with a wonderful instructional manner. She incorporates her Chinese heritage into the workshops beautifully and has the students spellbound. The lovely thing about her sessions is that being able to produce a credible Chinese watercolour at the end of the ses [...]
We recently held a Literature & Arts Festival at St. Catherine's Catholic College, The Whitsundays for our Secondary students. All the authors that attended were entertaining, engaging and inspiring. I have had so much positive feedback from students, staff and library colleagues. The students have all been raving about how excellent the festival was, and they were disappointed at the thought of returning to classes for the rest of the week. I have had reluctant readers coming into the library t [...]
Rachel was entertaining and engaging, tailoring each presentation to the audience in front of her and providing opportunities for student choice throughout. She generously shared her writing process and gave students insight into how her own life experiences and interests have shaped her stories. Her presentations were engaging, authentic and inspiring for our students.
Andrea was a great speaker. She engaged her audiences, across multiple ages in each session. She was approachable, articulate and her content was appropriate for each group. On the lead up to the event, Andrea made contact and went out of her way to tailor her speeches to suit our themes and ethos. She was considerate and thoughtful. I would not hesitate to recommend her as a speaker.
On behalf of all of the staff at Sacred Heart School and the students who were in attendance yesterday, we would like to say a big thank you for your very engaging and interactive workshops. They were absolutely fantastic. The students are raving about you and are already drafting and re-drafting their writing pieces. There was a real buzz at our school during and after your session. We look forward to reading more of your work and practising the writing skills you taught us.
Kyle's visit was informative and entertaining. He had a great connection to the students and presented his material in a humorous way. He was punctual and kept to timeframes. I would definitely recommend him to others.
"Shannon provided such a great perspective on how to write in this particular genre (kids & picturebooks), as I normally write fiction drama. Great tips and great knowledge." "Loved Shannon's workshop. I ended up making sure that a picture book will be my next project!" "Shannon was very honest in her presentation - she provided many examples of what to look for in a good picture book and suggestions for writing. She was very generous with her advice. A fantastic presentation!" "Great f [...]
Gabriel passed on his vast knowledge and professional experience to students through interactive activities that focused on the process of designing a character, the tools in creating a page spread, portraying the emotional body language of characters and training the eye in composition. Gabriel’s presentation methods were engaging, motivational and inspirational.
It was a pleasure to have Sheryl Gwyther work with our students at The Cathedral School of St Anne and St James in Townsville. Sheryl delivered workshops and presentations to students from years 3 to 9, before guiding our senior students on a three-day writing camp in the rainforest of Paluma. Sheryl's theoretical knowledge of the writing process was exemplary and her ability to use real-world stimuli to inform her work was inspirational. Sheryl was generous with her one-on-one feedback to stude [...]
Speakers Ink were helpful, prompt with any responses to questions and provided all the information necessary for the author visits.
Tim visited us at ATC last week for our annual Literary Festival and the effort & enthusiasm he brought to his presentations was very well-received by students and teachers, alike. The boys really enjoyed learning from Tim and I think we may have converted our 1 'surfie' kid to read his first 'proper' book, Occy's bio 'Occy : The Rise and Fall and Rise of Mark Occilupo'. I would highly recommend Tim to speak at any junior, middle or senior school. He also spoke at our parent night and his presen [...]
I just wanted to thank you on behalf of Ormiston College. Our guest visitors certainly enjoyed your presentation and as one person said on leaving “From now on I will be looking for his cartoon before I even read the front page.” Thank you again for being a part of our 25th Anniversary Literary Lunch.
Taylor provided Cultural Incursion to our school as part of celebrating NAIDOC Week. He engaged and inspired our students, who were immersed in his presentation, story-telling, music and education. He went out of his way to speak with individual kids, make himself available at breaks and was generous and patient. We will look to continue to book Taylor for other cultural learning and opportunities.
Stephany Steggall won the Hazel Rowley Literary Fellowship in 2013. She accepted the award at Adelaide Writers’ Week in front of a large audience. By 2015 Stephany had written “Interestingly Enough: The Life of Tom Keneally”, acknowledged as a well-researched and highly acclaimed biography. The biography was launched in Sydney by Geraldine Doogue, with Tom Keneally in attendance. Stephany spoke compellingly about the process of writing her book. In 2016 three Fellowship winners talked at the Whe [...]
